START Office

The START (STudent Academic Readiness Team) Office was created to assist students in meeting the rigors of academic life and in taking full advantage of the opportunities at the University of North Texas. We administer the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) program at UNT.

The START Office provides a “one stop shop” for first time in college and transfer students providing access to support programs which strengthen academic performance and promote academic success. Our office consists of a team of student advocates who take a collaborative and holistic approach to academic support services. The START Office is a part of the College of Undergraduate Studies.

Student Programs and Services Offered by the START Office:

• Advising: We offer specialized advising, services and support for TSI incomplete students focusing on college and TSI requirements, course/major selection, and academic success.
• TSI Testing: We offer regular Accuplacer testing and advising to incoming and current UNT students.
• Referrals: We offer referrals to both on- and off-campus support services.
